2 Letter Sight Words

Life is all about learning and I am of the firm belief that you learn something new everyday. It's amazing how this new adventure we have taken into homeschooling has helped me learn so much about myself along with my children. I hope that with each new adventure you all take on, you learn something from it.
Today's reading worksheet is tackling to 2 letter sight words. I started out just making a list and I was going to have him spell them out with letter tiles but then I got thinking about how easy it would be to make it fun. These raindrops have words on them that have 2 letters. First have your student cut out each rain drop or you can do it for them if you are pressed for time. Go through each raindrop as though it were a flashcard, to familiarize your student with the words.

Once your raindrops are cut out and you have read through them, have your student glue them on to the matching umbrella. This repetition will help the child remember these words. As they are attempting to match up each word, they will also work on spelling the words to double check the match. For a copy of these worksheets GO HERE. Please feel free to use my worksheets or share them, but link back to me if you use them online anywhere.
Thank you everyone out there that checks in with me daily, remember to enjoy every minute!

Our Creative Table

Our creative table has been getting a lot of use lately! We've been testing out all of our markers and making a bucket of the ones that don't work. We are going to be making watercolors in the coming week! How fun and exciting.
Sentence strips took on a new role when they were cut up and turned into crowns! The kids wore these all week in class and they were so proud of them! I love when kids get crafty! They are perfect for class Birthday Crowns!!
Just Rocks are a new addition to our table and they have been getting the most use! The kids are absolutely loving them and you know what? Mommy is too!! Check them out here and you will love them too! They are easy to grip for little hands and they are all natural!
A variety of hole punches and glue sticks are always a fun favorite that always find their way to the table. I throw glue sticks in this bin, so the kids can glue their punches on paper to make patterns or cards, but mainly it gives them a place to put the punchies and not all over the floor!
Keep sharpened pencils at the ready for children to always be inspired to write. I also keep scissors, erasers and sharpeners near them so that they never have to go far in search of anything. (Updated Monday: I used to keep these in a plastic shower caddy but I got this cute stand for my birthday and it's perfect for now!)
Use egg cartons to section out paint for the kidlets! This is absolutely perfect with no clean up, making it super easy to paint and then toss.

I've been truly Blessed readers and I wish the same for you!

DIY Parking Garage

Can this week just be over with already? School was a breeze today as everyone just had a day full of tests that flew on by. It left us with a great big gap in the morning and I asked them what they wanted to do. ART ART ART was the resounding answer. I pulled down the recycle bin (minus a couple wine bottles--I had a party this weekend!!) and let them have at it. Wouldn't you know that AMAZING things happen when you have 3 kids of different ages at work here? What started out as a game board (mimicking our race car sight words folder game), quickly turned into a parking garage. They started with paper towel and toilet paper tubes but didn't have enough. They moved on to Crystal Light (target brand) containers and realized they were short one. A little engineering work from them had them using 3 and just moving the third one to a more balanced location. As I watched 3 brains work, I was amazed at how homeschooling has brought them together. There was no bickering or putting down, they worked together, encouraged and even improved on ideas instead of laughing some off.

2 water bottle cases cardboard pieces, 3 Target Powder drink mix containers and 4 rulers all made this happen. They used 2 rulers to make each ramp! Construction paper was the first thing to be used as a ramp but they realized that it was far too flimsy. They had already been using the rulers to make parking spots, this was perfect.
While the project didn't take them long to make, it certainly made a memory for me. Seeing my 3 kids work together like this made me realize just how much we are on the right path!

Book Page Table Runner

It's FRIDAY! It's FEBRUARY! Time to get my act together. Here is another Free Book Project! We made a book page table runner as decor for our book exchange party. This one was so easy and has the most impact. It's wonderful. We plan on tea staining it in the near future but for now, it's beautiful.
As I stated last, a free book goes a long way! This book was old and already had lost pages and many loose pages hanging out. As much as it hurts to do this to a book, I knew this one was destined for the trash as it was missing too much but I knew this would extend its life a little more.
This project is so easy, even the Littles got involved. All we needed was a roll of craft paper cut to length, torn pages and a glue stick! Once your Kraft paper is all cut out, just have the kids start gluing. The reason this is so perfect for children is that they do not have to be glued on in any order or direction AT ALL! Just glue and pat down.
When we were finished I laid it all out on the floor and had the children walk all over it, hop all over it and even sit on it to make sure the pages laid flat and stayed secure on the paper.
We put it on our dining room table to see how it looks and it's perfect!!! I cannot wait to see it out as decoration for our party. So much fun and excitement with all these new projects that one little book can make.

I still have more projects to post, I have just had a sick Little at home and he is passing it through the family. One day, I hope we will all be healthy at the same time!!!

Be Mine, Valentine!

Roman's class is exchanging Valentine's & I knew just the ones we would work on, when I came across these travel packs of crayons at Joann for .50 EACH! We cleared out 2 stores worth and set out to create the cutest Valentines on a budget!

He is all about rainbows right now, so we snagged a rainbow image & added some fun wording. I was going to print them out on sticker labels, to make it easy to peel & stick on the packages but Roman had other plans! He wanted to cut them out and use TAPE! Is tape as popular in your house as it is over here??

Last year the kids decorated cardboard bookmarks with glitter and paint to give out as Valentine's & we had plenty left over! We paired them with the box of crayons and added a yarn 'tassel'! PERFECT PAIRING! When Roman got home from school today, we started to work on his MAIL BOX. He was sure to save his cereal box and knew that he wanted to paint it.

We used paper bags to create a plain surface for his creativity and then he set to work with stickers and markers before hunger took him over! After a short break, he plans on painting and gluing and adding some glitter as well!

What are you up to today??

Sunday Tips!

Before your kids come home from school or wake up, pull out a long neglected toy and put it somewhere it will be noticed straight away! Watch your children delight in playing with this 'new' toy for hours!

Make even fast food last longer than a a quick eat! I always have some kind of card game or small board game in my tote in the car. This allows us to still play a family game, no matter where we end up at the end of a long day!

Happy Sunday my Friends...

Delightful December Day 4!

If there is one thing I love to collect, it's BUTTONS! I love buttons of all kinds, colors and shapes and sizes...With our crafting bug in full swing, I decided to show the kids how to make cute, colorful and fun gifts for their teachers, friends and family members using buttons! Today we attacked jewelry with a vengeance!

All you need to make simple button rings is a sturdy adhesive (We use E600) and buttons and your ring pad or even a brooch back! All can be found at your local craft shoppe. The most favorite thing for all of us to do was to sort the buttons! We laughed as we looked, chatted as we sorted and even tried to sneak away some of our favorites so that they wouldn't be used (okay, only i did that!!). The kids were then told to stack the buttons 2 or 3 high with the larger one on the bottom to form a steady Christmas tree of sorts! It's that simple.
Sort, Stack, Glue, Dry, Wear!

Crafty Kids

Do you need some time to yourself every now and then? Grab a shoe box and hit up your personal craft stash! Fill the box with random bits and baubles that have to theme or way of going together in an obvious form. Give your children the box and watch their eyes light up and then listen to their excitement when you let them know that this box is just for them to craft with today, to do anything on earth that they can think of at the craft table, while you work on what you need to do! My son worked for over an hour and then when the big kids came home from school, he told them all about it and they all say down to work together again!

Yes, yes I was!
