Found the right Electra in my size! I was totally thrilled to find it in my all time favorite color that I just couldn't leave the store without it!
This is the most amazing bike I have ever been on and I have plans for baskets, racks, streamers and other goodies! Can't wait! My husband even hopped on for a quick ride around the block and agreed that the ride just can't be beat!
I have recently begun purchasing larger pieces of vintage furniture and such in hopes of breathing new life into them. I keep the price point super low, in case it does not turn out as I had hoped or envisioned! This past weekend, we hit up an Estate Sale where I saw the ugliest kitchen cart in brown. I knew just the spot where it had to go in my studio, but it needed to be livened up. I took a photo of it straight away and then hit the rest of the sale while I thought about it.
It was marked 5.00 and I knew I would be able to talk them down a bit, as everyone seemed to pass it on by. I offered them 2 and it was sold! My husband just shook his head and said: That will go NOWHERE NEAR the kitchen! hahah! I let him know I had big plans for this piece. I knew this was a vintage 50s Cosco kitchen cart, so the enamel had to be covered with a quality spray paint. I did some research at home and decided on Krylon indoor/outdoor spray paint. From there I researched where I could get the best deal and lo and behold it was on sale at Wal Mart and headed on over. I had narrowed it down to Sun Yellow and Watermelon Pink. Once we got there, I quickly decided on the watermelon pink and it was on sale for 2.37. I bought 2 cans, but only ended up needing 1. Primed it first and let that dry for 1 hour and then spray painted 2 coats and let that dry for 1.5 hours! Voila!
The lighting in my studio is horrendous, it's actually a bold and vibrant HOT pink!
I have A question for shop owners out there today. When reading my Twitter and Facebook Feeds, I often times see the words: Sold and Relisted, if you are one that does this often when an item hits your SOLD section, do you remake the item as soon as your other one sells? Do you already have a batch of them made up? Do you remake the items when it sells again the next time?
WANTED! I fell in LOVE with this today when I laid eyes on it! At 54.00 it's not really something I could snag up,so I stepped away from it.....Now I keep thinking of it non stop! haha!
This vintage Wil-Hold sewing container in Clear Plastic has been on my WANT list FOREVER! I finally snagged one up yesterday and it was stuffed with sewing notions!!! In fact, I just listed some of the buttons that were in here in my shop today! I have so many buttons, that I try to get rid of as many as I can so that my collection does not get out of control!
These sunglasses are a teal colored lucite and I fell in LOVE the minute I spotted them!!! I snagged them up straight away and I know they will become a fast favorite!!
I'm in the market for a new bike. Unfortunately at 4ft 10, I'm having a VERY hard time finding the bike I want, that is not for children! haha! I fell in life with the Electra Townie, only to find that the features and color I want are not made in my size. I have been told that possibly the Hawaii will fit me, but let us hope, I can get that in the right color. I have my eye on the Electra Daisy as well, but not many retail outlets keep them on hand as they do not sell often. I am hesitant to pre-order a bike, because I want to feel it first. I want to be able to ride it and like the ride, before I pay 500.00 for a bike. My husband on the other hand is trying to convince me that any old bike will do :) Here I am at Dicks trying just any bike with a sort-of retro flair feel. (Note to self: No heels when trying bikes) It was alright, but I really have my heart set on the Electras. Husband has his heart set on anything cheaper! haha! What kind of bike do you ride?
Todays Lesson in school was about the Octopus, I figured this was a fun after school snack for the kids when they got home!
My first sign of summer is definately the paleta man! I looove hearing those charming little bells when I am downtown and almost always try and find where they are coming from to purchase some fantastica popsicles that seem to taste best when purchased directly from the cart. It's a reminder of those long gone days of summer vacation while sitting on the front porch of my grandmothers house with my cousins, waiting for the tinkling to begin. He would get closer and closer until he was right on the sidewalk in front of us! We would have our shiny quarters ready (.50 a popsicle) to purchase our treats! Limon was always my favorite (lime) and still is! It's sweet, tart and oh so sour sometimes. I've been known to try Chocolate and once even a strawberry (a wasted .50 that day), but Lime is always my go-to flavor. Just hearing those bells sends me back to my long haired, pigtailed days of summer. Oh how I want to go back in time sometimes. 
Next, was definately those Sunday after Mass drives into the City to Taylor Street in Little Italy for a visit to the 'only open in the summer months' Italian Ice Stand known as Mario's.. This little piece of heaven dishes up the most FABULOUS Italian Ice EVER! It's sweet, it's delicious, it's PERFECT! The lines are ALWAYs long, but in the end it's worth it! Don't ever make the mistake of getting on that is too small, because you will want MORE. I can't wait to bring my kids this year, it's a place my father used to go to when he was younger, so of course I want to keep it going with my little ones! I always get Grape or Lemon. I never try anything else! haha! The menu is VAST and I would love to try something else, I just fear that I will wait all that time, get something new and HATE it. Maybe I will get 5 or 6 small cups to sample! haha! They are open until Midnight until September and open up this month some time!
Finally, I sit here creating in my studio as my children color next to me. How quickly time flies. I was once a young girl wanting to be so much older and now I am a mother of 3 wishing I was a kid again! My kids and I go for Ice Cream at least once a week. It's our special outing together. WE sometimes invite friends, grandpa or even Daddy if he has not been called into work. It's a time when we chat about our week, discuss what to do next week and I always tell a story of getting treats when I was younger. I will always treasure these moments as they get older and hope we can still keep our Sweet Dates! I was inspired by these moments to make the earrings above. They are colorful and light and fun. These are some of my favorites! I am allowing you a peek into my world as I recently went PRIVATE with my favorites. I had someone that was a bit too close for comfort, constantly buying everything I favorited, so I went a bit crazy and started hearting things that were not even remotely useful to me or even close to what I was needing and yup, they purchased them! That's when I knew that this person needed to be kept out. Long story, but someone that asked for a lot of help starting out, then went on to pretty much sell my identical pieces at craft shows (thinking because we were not in the same town I would not know) and slowly spreading to her Etsy shop.
