Tray Tuesday!

It's time for another round of Tray Tuesday! It's time to get creative with your food and serve up the perfect portions for little tummies! Together with Mama to 4 Blessings, we are proud to present this week's line up of food! Presenting food in fun and colorful ways, keeps children entertained and ready to try anything!

Every week I like to try out new and fun tools to make the tray fun and different the previous ones. This week I only have my preschooler at home, so it was only 1 tray I had to make up as opposed to 3! I wanted to go with a theme, but little hands were helping me, so he was just pulling out what he wanted!

This week, I used a crinkle cutter, paring knife and small scissors (to open up packages without tearing them) and a small cutting board. I like to keep all my lunch items handy on a tray in my work space, so I never have to hunt around for items when I need them! This cuts down on time by so much!

Today we served up a fun array of goodies that Roman and Mommy shared together to have the most delightful lunch! You see it on a pink tray, because we carried it outside to sit under a tree and read together as we nibbled. It was a wonderful afternoon of fun!

Tray Food Top Row: Carrots, Cucumbers and Cherry Tomatoes (Garden picked!), Celery, Cheese Sticks, Crackers and Chicken! (Can you tell I went with a C theme, until the little one asked to help!!)
Bottom Row:
Fruit Snacks, Clementines, Bananas, Apples & Raspberries (Freshly picked!) and watermelon! YUM!

Did you create a fun lunch for Tray Tuesday?! Link up and join us! Presentation is everything when it comes to little ones, get them eating new and fun foods all while having fun! Snag a button, pop it in your post and join up!

Monday Madness!!

Week 2 of school has started and the kids are having an absolute blast, they come home smiling everyday and the entire weekend was full of questions about school and when they would go back! My daughter lost her first non-accidental tooth last night (she knocked one out doing some gymnastics moves last summer) and this morning was all a flurry about what the tooth fairy bought and the glitter that she left behind.

We had a blast at the apple orchard over the weekend, that left the kids so excited to bring in an apple to their teacher, so that they could tell her all about the orchard and picking it themselves.  This easily took up about 15 minutes, with them going through each and every apple, looking for the perfect ones!

Don't forget that tomorrow is tray tuesday!! Join us with your fun lunches and you will have a chance to link up too! Mama to 4 Blessings and I are so very excited and we can't wait to see what you have come up with!!
How was your weekend? I hope you all had a great time!

It's Over....

Yesterday after school, I picked up the kids and we headed to the Children's Museum in town. As they played in their uniforms, I realized how Summer is really over! They are completing their first week of school already and having so much fun. With the heat still blazing in the Midwest, it's hard to believe that school is here.

Our long bike rides must now wait until the weekends and only if there is nothing else planned with school sports and the like...

Our lazy mornings spent miniature golfing are now on hold until Saturdays and only if daddy has not been called into work, because it's so much more fun if we're all together!

Now we have to go to the zoo during the weekend when it will be crowded and visited by all the other people with children in school.

As the Winter nears, our walks will be darker, since they have to take place after school and after homework is done....I certainly will miss Summer.

It's Box Tops Season!

School is back in session and we are collecting box tops like mad! Okay, we never stopped, but some parents are new to the program this year and it's time to get them hooked too! Let's GO!

Need to know what products carry Box Tops? Check it out HERE! While you are there printing out the list, take a minute to familiarize yourself with BTFE.Com and you will find SO MANY contests to enter!Do you collect them and not have a local school to give them to? MESSAGE ME and I will send you a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope! My kids go to a super tiny school and every little bit helps!

I made this great table top container to give visual impact to the collection of Box Tops!  We have a large container in the office, but this one is a bit smaller so that I can swap it out easier! I bought the container at the  Dollar Store and they came 2 to a pack! I decorated them both and can now switch them out without having to empty them right there!

Sam's Club was like Box Tops heaven when we walked in this past weekend! SO MANY products have Bonus Box Tops right now!! Get out there and check them out! HERE IS A LIST of the items that have Bonus Box Tops on them!

Anytime I put together things for the school or friends, I ALWAYS use Box Tops products! It's a great way to get quality items AND help out the school! Here you can see the collection bags I made to hand out to the families of the school. Using ZIPLOC bags and AVERY labels!
The Box Tops website is a great resource that can help you out with your budget too! They keep coupons here for participating products! You can also find out what type of local promotions are going on in your area and recipes!
Have any questions? Ask here or flag me down if you see the BOX TOP in the back window of my van! I love to help support our school, it's something so small that can make a huge difference!

Fun with Food!

Before we get to the good eats, remember that food does not only have to be eaten! When the outside of some of our apples were a bit bruised, we sliced them in half and got to work with paints!

They looked so pretty that I wanted to display them! The kids had so much fun playing with their food, that we have decided next time, we will make the prints on something other than paper, so that we can keep them longer!
The first day of school was fun for everyone and the perfect back to school snack, was Caprese Bites that I then drizzled with olive oil and lightly salted and peppered. They were perfect! I would have added the basil, if I had known the kids that came over would have liked it, so I erred on the side of caution!

I love making everyday things cute with very little effort! Masking tape and a sharpie make the perfect note on something that will be thrown away anyway! A rubberband holds the napkin and spoon right to the pudding cup and they both nestle right into the snack bag that has also gotten a little glam!

Cookie cutters and cupcake wrappers, GO GET THEM! These 2 things are enough to make lunches absolutely memorable.

Tray Tuesday will be back next week! With the rush of the first day, we were on the go all day, so I am slowly getting back to normal!

Quiet!

Sorry for the long silence! It has been a very long weekend, trying to get ready for the start of a new school year. I share the above words of advice for everyone embarking on a new beginning. Let us all keep this in mind!

We've been doing so much shopping, cleaning, organizing and the like, that it's so easy to neglect the online realm of my life! I will be back shortly, once I get the schedule underway!

Writing and Learning!

One thing my children must do every night is to write an entry in their journal. They can draw a picture, write a story or even just write a list of things that we did that day, but it needs to be something. My youngest just draws a lot and maybe writes his name all over the page! lol. I figured this would be perfect in the writing center right next to their journals on a hook.
I found these fantastic pencil cut outs at the teacher store and wrote a sheet of topics out. Next, I printed and cute them out and pasted them onto the pencils one at a time. Finally I punched a hole in each of the erasers and slipped a binder ring through it!

Treasures...Recycled Fun

Hello everyone! It's been a hectic day, so I have not gotten around to take photos of this week's recycled treasure! Hopefully I can do that later today. Instead I wanted to share with you my latest FACEBOOK ALBUM.  This is a compilation of all the items that we are constantly saving in and around our home! They usually make awesome storage or help in other ways around the house. This is a list that I try to add to at least once a day, so it's an ever changing one! If you ever have any questions as to why I save what, feel free to comment under the photo on Facebook or even here in the post!
We keep everything stored in 1 container and that's it. If it gets to be more, then we purge. There is always something coming out of this house, so we don't have to worry about not having what we need on hand! That's what's so great about re-purposing items! It's fun and teaches the kids a great lesson! Head on over to my FACEBOOK page and leave a comment!
